Thanks to a sexting congressman and his debauchery, we’re all privy to a fantastic showcase of even more lies and corruption from the Clinton campaign. On Friday, news broke that the FBI had discovered emails relevant to the Clinton email investigation while digging through former congressman and amateur photographer Anthony Wiener’s devices. Apparently, it wasn’t just lewd photos of the politician that they found.
Because the story has been dubbed the “October Surprise” of this election cycle, there’s a lot of noise out there about the emails, a Wiener probe, and reactions from both the Right and the Left. Let’s break the story into its most basic parts:
On Friday, James Comey informed Congress that emails related to the Clinton investigation had been discovered while reviewing information found during the infamous Wiener probe but that investigators needed to review them to see if they contained any classified information.
Not only are there at least 650,000 emails stored on Wiener’s laptop, it was also used by his wife and Hillary aid, Huma Abedin, who testified that all devices that contained State Department emails had been turned in. In other words- she lied under oath.
Meanwhile, Hillary and the rest of the Clinton campaign maintain that the FBI will find no evidence of wrongdoing and are, in fact, colluding with Republicans. Watch Hillary’s response below.
Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe may have been responsible for shutting down any further investigation of the Clinton emails while under pressure from the Department of Justice. According to The Wall Street Journal, some FBI employees claim that McCabe gave instruction not to pursue further investigation of Clinton probe after a meeting with DOJ officials who were “stern, icy and dismissive of the case” and “wouldn’t authorize more aggressive investigative techniques, such as subpoenas, formal witness interviews, or grand-jury activity.”.
Donald Trump and Republicans are praising Comey’s actions while Democrats are beginning to lose it. In a speech to voters in Grand Rapids, MI, Trump defended Comey saying that “He brought back his reputation” and praising him saying, “He did the right thing.” This happened as the crowd continued to yell, “lock her up”. On the other side of the aisle, Democrats like Harry Reid have claimed that Comey has violated the Hatch Act, a law that prevents the FBI from using their power to influence elections. Senate minority leader Reid insisted that Comey is basically in cahoots with Trump and is trying to keep the public in the dark.
More to come, I’m sure.
