We’re down to just four GOP candidates, with Trump winning 15 states and leading Ted Cruz by 99 delegates. He’s loud, he’s bold and has “large”, “strong” hands, but can he beat our favorite criminal politician? While many voters are backing the businessman on the belief he can go head to head with Clinton, polls consistently show that may not be the case.
Contrary to what Trump supporters want to believe, Clinton destroys Trump in a general election, according to national polls. The only poll that shows Americans favoring Trump is an outdated one conducted in February by USA Today. The poll shows Trump leading by a meager two points.
Who, then, has a chance to square off against Clinton and actually win?
Despite what critics say, Ted Cruz is the only conservative candidate who stands a chance of winning the GOP nomination and beating Hillary Clinton. In a general election, Cruz beats Clinton 46.5 percent to 45 percent, compared to Trump who loses by over six percent.
Of course, this hasn’t stopped the Trump endorsements from rolling in. On Tuesday, right-of-the-aisle celebrity Jon Voight announced his endorsement of Donald Trump saying,
“He’s an answer to our problems. We need to get behind him. The Republicans need to unite behind this man. We need somebody to go in and reconstruct us in a sort of way, get us back to where we were, who we need to be.”
In his exclusive statement to Breibart, Voight added:
“It is true that we Americans have been part of Donald Trump’s life for many years. We were part of his weddings. We were there to see all his children’s births. We were part of his great shows: Miss Universe, The Apprentice — and all know, without a doubt, his life has been an open book.
I, Jon Voight, can say, without hesitation, that Donald is funny, playful, and colorful, but most of all, he is honest. When he decided to run for president, I know he did it with a true conviction to bring this country back to prosperity. He is the only one who can do it. No frills, no fuss, only candid truths.
There are many Republicans fighting to keep him from winning the Republican nomination. You know why? Because he has no bull to sell, and everyone will discover the bull most politicians spew out is for their own causes and benefits. They never dreamed they would be losing control.
I am very disappointed at the talk show hosts, also spewing out lies and propaganda against Donald. Why, I wonder? The only thing I can think of is he represents a form of freedom none of them ever saw before, and they are bewildered about it, and frightened about it.
I pray all Americans who have seen and felt the meltdown of America with the Obama years, to please fight for Donald Trump. He will not let us down. I pray for all good people to see clearly what faces us now. The right vote will save our nation.”
According to Voight, voting for Trump is the key to saving our nation. Really? The polls don’t seem to reflect this statement, and neither do Trump’s values. In fact, Trump’s values have reflected those of people like Hillary more so than they have the GOP candidates, until recently. So why do Americans need to choose someone who still supports leftist ideas like trade tariffs, which is another form of taxation, and organizations like Planned Parenthood? They don’t and they shouldn’t.
If you want a candidate whose values stand in stark contrast with Clinton’s AND has a chance of beating her in the general election, don’t look to the loudest guy in the room. Look to Cruz.
